Our Clients Community Health Interfaith Partnership (C.H.I.P.) In 2009, the U.S. Department of Justice filed suit against the state of Georgia in response to the serious inadequacies of the mental health system in the state. Out of this lawsuit, the state of Georgia received a consent decree and restructuring of the system was mandated, as were funds. However, the amount of funding and support required to make the necessary changes would require significant participation from institutions, faith based and community-based organizations and foundations. C.H.I.P. was organized as a faith repsonse to this effort. Charitable Connections, Inc. is working with C.H.I.P. to gain its tax exempt status and on its transition from a steering committee to a full organization operating to impact primary care and mental health integration and on involving the faith community in the many support mechanisms that are needed for those suffering from mental health issues and their families.
NAMI Northside Atlanta, Inc. Providing Mental Health support for the many families and individuals suffering from mental health issues is a primary function of NAMI on a national, state and local level. It is through the dedication of local volunteers that NAMI provides support, advocacy and outreach. NAMI Northside Atlanta came together as an organization to provide this local support in Northside Atlanta, Roswell and Dunwoody. Charitble COnnections, Inc. assisted them with their tax exempt status and organizational structure. Through our work, NAMI Northside has established goals and objectives and four focus areas for task group operation.
The Fuller Center for Housing of Greater Atlanta, Inc. (FCHGA) Building capacity and infrastructure of an affordable housing ministry involves identifying funding, recruiting volunteers, organizing committees, identifying and implementing financial practices, creating campaigns, and developing best practices programming. Project Lakewood was an effort that Charitable Connections, Inc. utilized to accomplish these efforts. We assisted in identifying volunteers, coordinating events, connecting resources and facilitating the development of volunteer staffing to transfer knowledge to effectively grow the organizational capacity of FCHGA. In order to create a sustainable operation, the Fuller Center in collaboration with Charitable Connections, Inc. has established the Reclaim It Atlanta Center. The purpose of this center is to collect used building materials and repurpose them in other non-profit organizations and sell to the general public to generate funds to support the work of the Fuller Center. Through this operation, Charitable Connections, Ic. has assisted Fuller Center in setting operational procedures, business practices, inventory managment practices and a soon to be social media fundraising strategy. See www.AtlantaFullerCenter.org for more information.
A.D. King Foundation Leveraging resources to facilitate growth is a way to build organizational capacity. Through the The "Loads of Hope" day in the Adamsville community, Charitable Connections, Inc. brought corporate, community, civic, small business and church resources together for the A.D. King Foundation to train a division of employees at Proctor and Gamble about grassroots community service; deliver 225 loads of laundry to people in transition, those living on the streets and seniors in the community, build new corporate relationships with Walmart and Southern Automation, Inc. and impact the work of other faith and community based organizations. The end result: A.D. King Foundation has three new corporate partners and increased visibility of their work; the City of Cincinnati has a group of employees providing a service to the homeless and disenfranchised on a monthly basis; two churches have extended their relationships with the poor and disenfranchised; and over 52 large boxes of clothing, shoes, home goods, electronics, and baby items will be distributed at an outreach to the homeless on Fulton Industrial Boulevard in May that were leftovers from a donation to this event from the International Campaign for Victory Over violence.
