Renaissance Park West - a sustainable mixed income solar village and farm with a health and wellness focus.
Initial Project Mission and Vision:
To create an urban community model in the Old Gordon Neighborhood of the Adamsville Community in Atlanta, Georgia that empowers individuals, groups and institutions to become competent, compassionate and courageous while restoring vitality in living to a collective population. We will utilize an abandoned and vacant multi-unit apartment complex donated by seven banks and two individual donors to create a framework for developing mutually enhancing relationships, establish caring communities and restore the relational foundation of community that promotes a new vision for affordable housing, philanthropy, health, agriculture, environmental protection and affordable eco-sensitive energy access.
The Dynamics of the Mission:
To create a blue ribbon team of health and wellness practitioners, medical practitioners, leading edge artists, corporations, retired corporate executives, scientists, environmental engineers, architects, developers, educators, educational institutions, funders and contractors to design and implement a series of indoor and outdoor eco-sensitive/green living areas as an integrated part of a community. This initial model center will facilitate development of affinity groups as on-going individual and collective support systems; the implementation of new energy and agricultural technologies; and provide improved green agricultural and construction practices and methods.
Individuals and groups in the community will have an unprecedented opportunity to interact with and contribute to the centers through participation (be homeowners or tenants or neighborhood association members), employment, entrepreneurship, investment, and/or economic development. This initial model urban center will also be an interactive demonstration of how the environment and technology can contribute to personal and collective health and well-being.
